Dia Internacional da Paz
« Dia Internacional da Paz é celebrado em 21 de Setembro, foi declarado pela ONU em 30 de novembro de 1981.
Em 21 de Setembro de 2006, por ocasião do Dia Internacional da Paz, Kofi Annan afirmou: Há vinte e cinco anos, a Assembleia Geral [da ONU] proclamou o Dia Internacional da Paz como um dia de cessar-fogo e de não violência em todo o mundo. Desde então a ONU tem celebrado este dia, cuja finalidade não é apenas que as pessoas pensem na paz, mas sim que façam também algo a favor da paz. »

« The International Day of Peace occurs annually on September 21. It is dedicated to peace, or specifically the absence of war, such as might be occasioned by a temporary ceasefire in a combat zone. It is observed by many nations, political groups, military groups, and peoples.
To inaugurate the day, the "Peace Bell" is rung at UN Headquarters. The bell is cast from coins donated by children from all continents. It was given as a gift by the Diet of Japan, and is referred to as "a reminder of the human cost of war." The inscription on its side reads: "Long live absolute world peace." »
